Coaching vs. Psychotherapy - What's the difference?

Sometimes it's not so easy to know what kind of support is right for you. That's why I've summarized the differences between coaching and therapy here.

Psychotherapy accompanies you when it comes to issues that are considered illnesses—for example, anxiety, depression, panic attacks, or psychosomatic complaints. Even in times of great stress, after a loss, or during a deep crisis, therapeutic support can help you regain stability.

Coaching is for you if you don't have a goal or a desire for change: you want to reorient yourself professionally, appear more confident, make clearer decisions, or improve your relationships. It's about growth, development, and clarity.

In my work as an alternative practitioner, I combine both coaching and therapy.

The advantage for you: if issues suddenly arise during coaching that require therapeutic work, you are already in safe hands. You don't have to switch from your coach to a therapist and instead can be sure that we will continue exactly where it is important for you.

This way, you receive holistic support—flexible, individual, and always tailored to your current needs.
